What are Sclearl Contact Lens

Sclearl Contact Lens are large diameter gas permeable (allows oxygen through) contact lens that vault over the cornea and rest on the white part of your eye called the Sclera.

Scleral Lens functionally replace an irregularly shaped cornea caused by Keratoconus and other corneal irregularities .

The liquid reservoir of the Scleral Lens can also help severe dry eye patients tolerate contact lens.

Accurate Measurements and Training

Scleral Contacts are custom made for each wearer.  Scleal Contacts takes expertise and takes more time to fit.

Specialized computer mapping is used to map the corneal surface.  This allows us to make sure the scleral lens is made to fit perfectly.  Depending how complex the fit is, computerized measurements are taken with the lens on to make sure the lens is sitting correctly on the cornea.

Scleral Contacts are a lot different from wearing a standard contact lens.  They take time. practice, and patience.  Our staff will take as much time as needed to make sure you are comfortable applying and removing the Scleral Lens.  Click here to watch a video on how to apply and remove Scleral Contacts
